The original “castle” wing was built in 1885 as a four-story house that mirrored European-style architecture. Over the decades since, it was a private residence, prohibition-era speakeasy, and even a gambling casino. In 2003, it was expanded into the hotel and wedding venue that it is today.

Lodging & Getting ready

Staying in the original castle wing is half the fun of weddings at Belhurst! The Tower Suite will give you the ultimate getting-ready experience, and the other suites are spacious and beautiful as well.

There’s also the modern Vinifera wing that features more conventional hotel rooms. Your guests will enjoy the opportunity to stay on-site and enjoy the history and beauty of Belhurst Castle.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremony Venue

The east lawn of Belhurst Castle is perched on high cliffs that overlook Seneca Lake. Every outdoor wedding ceremony gets to enjoy these epic views, and it’s one of the most iconic wedding venues in the Finger Lakes region. Your reception ballroom is available as a rain backup if needed.

Reception Venues

Castle Ballroom

The Castle Ballroom is the original Belhurst wedding reception space. This classically elegant room has seating for up to 250 people, and cocktail hour happens on the tree-lined lawn outside the ballroom.

Meritage Ballroom

The 2003 expansion included building a gorgeous new ballroom that has it all: 14-foot ceilings, seating for 180, and tall windows that look out over the lake fill the room with light. The outdoor patio is perfect for cocktail hour and getting a bit of fresh air during your reception party.

Booking Your Wedding at Belhurst Castle

When you host your wedding at Belhurst Castle you’re choosing one of the most iconic wedding venues in the Finger Lakes region - and its prices are surprisingly reasonable. Meal service is a la carte, with entrees in the $30-40 per person range, hors d’oeuvres $5-$10, and bars are based on consumption and not hours per person. The ceremony fee is just $700 to have your wedding on the beautiful lawn overlooking Seneca Lake.

In addition to the magnificence of the castle, itself, you and your guests will enjoy the grounds of Belhurst Castle as well. The lawn is dotted with trees that date back to the 1800s, and the dock will bring you up close to the lake, allowing you to take breathtaking pictures throughout your wedding day.

To top it all off, there are numerous Finger Lakes wineries within easy driving distance, and the town of Geneva has many cultural and culinary attractions. Belhurst Castle is a classic and elegant venue for your wedding, and your guests will enjoy staying for the weekend and enjoying everything the area has to offer.
